Andy...I made the jig that John How posted in the "Jigs & Techniques" section. So far I haven't had to widen a saddle slot but the jig should also be able to handle that operation if you index off of the center line.

I recently changed to 1/8" saddle thickness and without changing the jig it worked fine.

OOPS...I just realized that you may be asking how to widen the slot on an INSTALLED bridge. In that case, I don't have any experience. ...but I'm sure someone has done this. JJ Donohue39027.5919097222

I bought the saddle slotting jig from Stewmac, it can be used to either cut or widen the slot.

a home made jig will do the job as well.

the main thing is to get the guide portion of the jig so the the router with the appropriate size bit will slide the length of the slot with the bit in the slot. then a spacer/shim may be used to reset the guide to allow the widening.
